Days Like This
Today is one of those days that teeters along the cusp of average and the gateway to hell. It’s one of those days where you can only manage to get half of your morning rituals accomplished despite having plenty of time. It’s not a great day, but it could most definitely get a lot worse.
This realization hit like so many revelations do, whilst I was visiting the w/c. It was while walking in that I noticed I had apparently forgotten to shave my sweater, because it’s fuzzy five o’clock shadow is grizzlier than my own. It was also during this moment that I noticed I’d forgotten my belt, which is not a tragedy so long as I don’t have to run. This equation might help illustrate what I’m suggesting, white boy+flat ass-belt=pankles.
Compound to this the fact that I left my iPod sitting on my desk at home this morning. This leaves me with nothing but the voices in my head to listen to all day long, and let me tell you, some of them can be real assholes.
On the bright side, it started snowing again this morning. I know, who would say snow is a silver lining, but it really is a nice little flurry. It’s a perfect little nip of winter to make you appreciate the cold weather. Unlike our recent bouts of blizzard-like snow with howling winds and slippery ice, todays snow is soft, wet and knows well enough when to quit.
Plus, it’s Friday. That means I didn’t bother shaving—really who shaves on Fridays anyway. Also, I know that I can attribute my sense of fatigue this morning to the fact that after playing Halo 2 for three hours—got to play that before I get to Halo 3—I popped in my new copy of The Fifth Element—old roommate destroyed my copy many years ago—last night so in the end I got to bed closer to half past twelve than ten o’clock when Ivy asked me to come to bed.
In conclusion, today is a bit up in the air, so we’ll see how it pans out. My strategy is going to be to lay low until it’s all over and start fresh tomorrow.
