Sneaky Woodworkers

Sometimes I wish I were a little more handy with the whole wood working thing. Today is one such day as I’ve stumbled across an article on Hidden Drawers in antique furniture. The closest I ever got to this trickery was hollowing out books books when I was a kid. Not that I stored anything besides money, pocket knives and matches in the them. They were just a way to waste away all the free time I had when I was a kid. But enough about me, if you are interested in getting better at woodworking too check out Woodcraft’s online library.

Beck’s New Single

I told you last week that Beck is putting out a new album, Modern Guilt, sometime next month. Well, here is your chance to catch the first single off of said album. Just head over to beck.com and the first song that should pull up in the little jukebox at the top-right of the page will be the new single Chemtrails. I listened to it once so far, and it’s not too shabby—a little mellow, a little groovy, all in all a good first single.

More Andrew Jones Goodness

Once again, I will invoke the visual wizardry that emanates from Andrew Jones to spice up my drab corner of the internet. Trust me, I’m not a stalker, I simply admire the work that he does. I aspire to be as great at what I do as he is at what he does. First off is some album art Andrew did for the upcoming Soulfly album entitled Conquer coming out July 29th on Roadrunner Records.
Soulfly Conquer
This is just a snippet, so head over to the Concept Art Forum to see all of it’s glory. This artwork is just pretty enough to make me buy this album. I have Soulfly’s second album Primitive, and I like it a lot, but I haven’t gone out of my way to check out anything they’ve done since then. This’ll be a good excuse to jump back on the band wagon.

Hurray for Friday

You know it’s time for the weekend to get here when you have to make a pit stop at Walgreen’s on your way into work for Icy-Hot patches, Extra-Strength Tylenol and a double-shot espresso. For some reason I woke up at about 1 a.m. in agony, my shoulder just feels screwed up. It’s not like I did anything that would be remotely considered exercise last night so it’s a mystery to me. I spent the rest of the morning trying to sleep but not succeeding because of having truly screwed up dreams and surfing the net in a zombified haze. So, I was glad when I got a little funny in my inbox courtesy of our copy writer, enjoy.

Thundercats Ho!

Ah, memories of my Saturday mornings as a child wash over me. PJ’s and a big bowl of cereal, and Thundercats on tv. Like so many things in my childhood, what’s old is new and the Thundercats are no different. Here are some images that have been floating around the intertubes from the upcoming live action film starring Hugh Jackman and Jessica Simpson.

If you are interested in seeing some schlocky photoshop art head over to Esquire. You can also read about Jessica Simpson’s make-up whoas. My favorite slice of this article has to be this quote:

New Music News

Former Saddle Creek sweethearts The Faint have a new album hitting shelves in August. The album titled Fasciinatiion will be released on the band’s imprint blank.wav. via

Rumblings of a new Cursive album have also hit the streets as the band took the stage to perform three new songs for Daytrotter Radio. via

First Peek at GoW2

mmmmmmmmm, This is the first in-game footage of Gears of War 2 to hit the intertubes. This looks even more bad-assed as the first Gears of War.

For a list of what makes this footage awesome, check out 360 Fanboy’s post.
