Maudlin of the Well: Part the Second

Maudlin of the Well has posted their latest album, Part the Second, online for download. MotW are giving this album away for free, but they are asking for a “pay-what-you-want” donation, which can be done quickly and easily via PayPal.

Part the Second is a culmination of previously unfinished MotW tracks, and the support of their fans, as Toby puts it:

The Mae Shi—Lamb and the Lion

This is the new video for The Mae Shi’s Lamb and the Lion off of their 2008 album HLLYH. It’s a quirky Flash animation piece by Natalia Stuyk done in a primitive medieval style—which is befitting the theme of the song.

Jam of the Day

Here’s a sunny track for a sunny day. This one goes out to all the fellas in the house who hold their bearded chins high, and all the ladies who love our manly chin pelts.

Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head

Datarock: Give It Up

Here’s the new video for Give It Up, the fist single off of Datarock’s upcoming album Red, available 4/14 on Nettwerk. I for one am totally digging yet another geeky dance-off video.

Getting Down In It

A couple of days ago Nine Inch Nails started uploading all of their music videos, new and old, to their official youtube account. Which is totally great, because it means that people won’t have to scour the interwebs for low-fo copies of NIN’s classic videos—that where originally recorded off of Mtv in 1994—every time they need a Trent fix. It also means that I can stop lamenting over the fact that I can’t watch my Closure double-vhs-tape set that I got back in the day. Hooray for the interwebs!

Fol Chen: Cable TV

Check out Cable Tv the latest video from Asthmatic Kitty Records artist Fol Chen. Fol Chen play quirky and upbeat avant pop that’s got a tap-worthy beat, their new album Part I: John Shade, Your Fortune’s Made is well worth checking out. Personally, Fol Chen is quickly becoming one of my favorite new artists this year.

My Kind of Super Group

What do you do when members of your two favorite bands come together on one stage then post the video online? You blog it, of course. Trent and the Nine Inch Nails gang invited tour mates Greg and Ben of The Dillinger Escape Plan on stage to play the NIN classic Wish—which DEP covered a couple years ago on their Plagiarism EP.

Extra Life at Box Awesome

Extra Life at Box Awesome

I was recruited this week to pull together a last minute gig poster for a show next week. Luckily I keep 90% of my doodles, so I was able to jump head first into this project with a solid foundation and an idea of where I wanted to go with it. Granted I still spent a few hours on getting the illustration just the way I wanted, but the tight time constraint kept me from over thinking the concept.

So, if you’re looking to be entertained next Wednesday night, head over to Box Awesome where Extra Life will be taking the stage along with UUVVWWZ and Polipnick Liberation Orchestra.
