Nine Inch Nails Showing Us Some Love, Sort Of

Nine Inch Nails added some dates to their Lights in the Sky tour last week. When I saw this I did a cursory search for any Nebraska dates, naturally there weren’t any so I went about day. I completely missed that they scheduled a show over in Omaha’s backyard, Council Bluffs. The show will be at the Mid-America Center on Wednesday, November 26—the day before Thanksgiving. It doesn’t look like there’s any ticket information available at this time, but tickets for their other midwestern dates run in the $30-$60 range so I would assume this show is about the same.

SMG Announces a Summer Tour

And it isn’t stopping anywhere near my neck of the woods

Oh well, here’s their new(ish) video for Widening Eyes.

Sunday Night in the Box

Time of Orchids at Box Awesome

So, I managed to crawl out from under my rock long enough this weekend to make it out to the late Sunday show at the new and improved Box Awesome—formerly known as The Chatter Box. So, who was playing? Well, Shinyville of course. Shinyville opened for two other great bans Time of Orchids and Upsilon Acrux.

Has Anybody Seen Screaming Mechanical Brain?

So, this is becoming a tradition. SMB shows at the Chatterbox being three shades of screwed up. Like I said in my prior post this was supposed to be a 6–9 show. Well, being all psyched I made the mistake of showing up on time. HAH!

6 o’clock and Shinyville is still setting up and SMB is nowhere to be found. Anyhoot, blah blah blah. at about a quarter to seven Donkey Fruit Punch takes the stage. For all those that might be wondering who Donkey Fruit Punch (DFP) is… well you wouldn’t the only one. DFP is an erotigrind improve duo, staring Scott (lead singer of Shinyville) and Luke (I don’t know who Luke is???). The best part is that DFP was founded less than 24 hours before this show.

SMB Back in Town!

Screaming Mechanical Brain - There Is No God In Space

I am stoked! One of my favorite bands, Screaming Mechanical Brain (SMB), will be playing at The Chatterbox again. SMB classify themselves as Video Game Metal, and that’s about the best I can describe them too. I’ve seen them twice before, once in 2005 with Mindless Self Indulgence, Shinyville, and The Show is the Rainbow at the now defunct Ranch Bowl in Omaha, and more recently at The Chatterbox. If it is any testament to how hard these guy kick ass, the last time I saw them the show was a scheduling nightmare. They ended up opening for some local old timey rockabilly bands with all of 7 people who were actually there to see them. They still ripped into it and gave an awesome performance.
